About Department

The Bachelor of Business Administration – Healthcare Management is an undergraduate degree designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the administration and management of Kuwait's public and private healthcare system. With the carefully selected interdisciplinary courses, program graduates will enhance their professional growth and career advancement opportunities through carefully planned practical components that include, a practicum in Business and an internship experience. The program prepares the graduates to be professionals in healthcare administration or healthcare management. The first area with operational functions in the health sector includes Healthcare Financial Management, HRM, and Health Information systems. The second area concentrates on the health sector's strategic management with a function that includes the sector's governance, strategic management, and quality and performance management.


Department Mission

The mission of the Healthcare management program is to develop healthcare management and administration professionals who will support the growth of business enterprises within Kuwait and the region. The program emphasizes developing discipline-specific skills and competencies, making graduates highly competitive practitioners and well positioned in the healthcare domain.

    Graduates of the program are expected to:

  • Apply extensive knowledge and skills focused on a specific occupation of healthcare management.
  • Demonstrate the use of analytical skills in effective decision making and generate solutions to problems in healthcare environments.
  • Function effectively in the business-related domains of the healthcare ecosystem such as governance, strategic planning, finance, management, leadership, marketing, and information systems.

B.BA. Healthcare Management

  • Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The educational objectives of the Healthcare Management program are that after five years of graduation, these students will:

  1. Contrast leadership and strategic roles, and operational roles, in Kuwait’s healthcare system.
  2. Apply extensive knowledge and skills focused on a specific occupation of healthcare management.
  3. Demonstrate the use of analytical skills in effective decision making and generating solutions to problems in healthcare environments.
  4. Function effectively in the business-related domains of the healthcare ecosystem such as governance, strategic planning, finance, management, leadership, marketing, and information systems.
  5. Model the personal and cognitive skills required to be effective in the healthcare system including effective communication, efficient teamwork, entrepreneurship, and other soft skills, such as time management, supervision, and leadership management.
  6. Demonstrate the application of ethics in business and responsibility to society and the profession.
  • Program-Student Learning Outcomes (SLO’s)

Student learning outcomes of the Healthcare Management program reflect the skills, knowledge, and competencies that students are expected to attain once they complete the program. Upon graduation, students will be able to:

  1. Compare the theoretical and practical aspects of the different business functions related to the healthcare system in Kuwait.
  2. Apply different business skills, tools, and techniques to the healthcare sector, including financial management, ethics and policies, quality and performance management, and information systems and technologies.
  3. Analyze best practices in healthcare contexts, to provide sustainable and efficient solutions to business challenges.
  4. Influence decision-making through effective communications across culturally diverse healthcare systems using different communication methods and formats.
  5. Evaluate ethical principles within the domain of Healthcare Management and be able to apply these to different situations.
  • Graduation Requirements: B.BA. Healthcare Management

students must complete 126 credits of courses to obtain the Bachelor of Business Administration (B.BA.) in Healthcare Management. These requirements are explained in the previous sections and summarized as follows:
