Department of Communication Sciences and Disorder

About Department

The department offers education in communication disorders for undergraduate students, professional training for graduate students and continuing education opportunities for professionals. The Department fosters an environment that encourages and supports students and faculty to participate in a scientific inquiry regarding normal and impaired communication processes. The goal of the service component is to provide high-quality speech, language, and hearing services to the Kuwaiti community. Professional speech-language pathologists and audiologists provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to individuals who present a variety of communication disorders.

The mission of the department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is to advance the understanding of normal and disordered speech, language, and hearing through teaching, scholarship, and service to the community.

Students seeking the Bachelor of Arts degree in this program must complete the general education requirements, college of Arts requirements, major requirements, and free elective requirements. The total hours required for a Bachelor of Arts degree is 120 credit hours summarized as below.

  1. University Core Courses (General Education)             42 credit hours
  2. College of Arts requirements           24 credit hours
  3. Major Requirements (compulsory + elective) 48 credit hours
  4. Free electives 6 credit hours
